Life's Essential Tool Box

Growing up, I was never a girl scout, brownie, or anything of the sort.  That said, our church had a youth program that included a lot of life skills as "badges" that were acquired over time.  When I was a teen, I could not fathom why I would never need to know how to change the tire on a minivan, none the less start a fire or give first aid.

Ah, youth. Those lessons came in handy sooner than I could have imagined.  It took three of us an hour to change a tire on a minivan at our church, but we did it.  I was able to start a fire while camping (allowing us to eat after a super long hike), and with four kids (and five nieces and nephews), I feel like I should get an honorary nursing degree!

Those things that seemed so simple and unneeded at one point became crucial skills that helped avert and emergency!

The truth is that we all need a set of tools that we can depend on.  The kit of blankets, water, and jumper cables is important; but you know what is even more important? We fill our toolboxes with  gifts from above that will provide spiritual care in time of suffering, that will ignite passion, get things moving. We are blessed with a toolbox of essential lessons, gifts, tools, and skills that will help us through life, on our journey with our Heavenly Father.

So,look around.  Book mark life's essential tool box. Refresh you spiritual first aid, find new ways to start your ablaze, and to get everything needed so that you are back on the road with the Lord.

And please, come back often.
